Noontime Adventures in Valpo

Despite the decent salary and a kick ass insurance provided by my new job, the best benefit of all is being able to work in the same office as my bestie, Michelle.

Say "14 years of friendship!"

This afternoon was magically delicious, weather-wise, and the sun was bright and the temperature was in the fifties (which is insanely high for February in Northwest Indiana, don’t you know? ) So during our lunch break Michelle and I jetted off to a cafe for a smoothie (for me) and an iced chai (for her) and then wandered around town for awhile.

When you put two uber-nerds together in Valpo, their tracks will usually lead straight to one spot: Galactic Greg’s, the comic book store.  Being 50% a dynamically female duo in a comic book store is a funny thing; it’s like being center stage during a performance, except the audience is made up of dudes who are only vaguely aware of how to behave while watching/hitting on the show.

After browsing through the Walking Dead volumes and the graphic novel section, we decided to duck into the neighboring DVD/Video game resale shop. It was there that I found it. The beautiful… the magical… Sean of the Dead!!!!

Needless to say, I was elated

Not bad for $5, right? Not even dressy work clothes can keep my zombie-love at bay.

Best lunch break ever? I think so.
